Owner/Director

The establishment of Natural Bridges Preschool has been a life-long dream for owner and teacher, Miss Suzette.

The dream began in college while working at a private preschool and elementary school in Whittier, California. Her goal was to graduate from college and teach elementary school in the Bay Area until she married and had children of her own. Knowing that she wanted to be a stay-at-home-mom for her own children, Miss Suzette began working to develop her ideal early childhood education program, curriculum, and materials.

On January 6, 2003, Natural Bridges opened with just six students, two of whom were Miss Suzette's own children, operating just two mornings a week.  Natural Bridges Preschool is in its 9th year of operation and now serves over 48 students in three different class groupings!

Ms. Suzette holds a CA Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, Preschool Director Certificate, and has earned numerous awards in the field of Early Childhood Education from local parenting groups and educational groups.  Suzette was awarded 'Teacher of the Year' in 2011 from Sunol Glen Unified School District for Excellence in Teaching.

Staff Qualifications

Each of our teachers meets or exceeds state standards for preschool teachers. They each are CPR and First Aid trained as well as have FBI fingerprint clearance. Our teachers all have prior experience working with young children and believe that children learn best in a structured play-based learning environment.

Ms. Sharon has been teaching young children since 1997, when she began attending San Jose State University.  It was there that Ms. Sharon majored in Child Development and minored in Psychology and Anthropology.  Ms. Sharon has been a Site Director at various preschools for the past 5 years.  She comes to us with a great gift for teaching young children and wonderful creativity.  She lives with her husband and three children (a 7 year old son, and twin 4 year old daughters) in Mountain House.

Ms. Alicia, Teacher

_ Hi! My name is Alicia Short. I was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Fremont in 2010. I came to Natural Bridges Preschool with an Associates of Science from City College of San Francisco. I have worked with children age 2 months to 14 years since 2005. I worked at an extended care program, as a Sunday School teacher, and as a nanny all in San Francisco. I love working with kids and helping them discover who they are as individuals! When not in the classroom, my hobbies include anything and everything artistic: painting, drawing, photography and writing. One of my goals is to become a children’s book author/illustrator. I enjoy going to the movies, bike riding, shopping and spending time with my family.

Mr. Darren, Teacher

_ Hello my name is Darren Wright. I moved to the Bay Area in 2005 from Los Angeles. I’m currently a Criminal Justice Major at California State University East Bay. My experience working with children vary from Preschool to Juvenile Probation. I currently run a before school program called Kids Club for the City of San Leandro in addition to being a Preschool teacher at Natural Bridges. I occasionally sub as a preschool teacher for Kiddie College through the City of San Leandro as well. Working with kids comes natural to me whether they are really small preschoolers or troubled teens in the juvenile justice system. I love what I do and the kids seem to love it more!

I love being a positive influence in children's lives.  I have taken every opportunity I was offered to work with children, including babysitting and volunteering in centers. I am currently attending Ohlone College studying Early Childhood Development and American Sign Language. I hope to one day own my own specialized preschool center for autistic children.
